Time is Ticking

Before long, it will be time for all of these showers that I am hosting this year. I get very excited about these kinds of events, particularly in the details of planning. Unfortunately though, sometimes that could be the most stressful part. I want each of the showers to be devoted to that person and that person only. I want each one to be unique to the person and their needs. After all, this is a special time in their life, and I want to add to the happiness and joy of the occasion.

Last week was all about Andrea and the Monograms and Mimosas shower. This week, however, the focus is on Erin and her Around the Clock shower.

Erin and I have been friends since kindergarten, and that is no lie. I remember the days when we had a few outfits that were alike, and we would plan to wear the same outfits to school on the same day. She’s working hard towards completing her nursing degree, so she can be completely focused on marrying a loving and hard-working man, Hunter.

I hope this shower helps them start their new life together!

I would love to do Erin’s shower outdoors if everything goes as planned with projects around my house.

Once again, Judd {the creative BIL} will be designing the invitations. Here are some that I have liked though. I can’t wait to see what Judd comes up with!

I also liked this cake, but I would change the colors to match the theme.

Instead of assigning each person a specific hour, I’m thinking it would benefit us best to assign them a certain time of day.

Here are some examples:

• Morning
• Afternoon
• Evening
• Night

I’ve read many ideas for these showers, which include centerpieces that are focused on the times of day assigned. I would have to get creative, but it would also be a fun detail, which is what I’m all about.

Some great games have been suggested as well. Now, I’ll be the first to say that I’m not all about the games at showers, but it does break things up and offers a chance for the guests to take some fun things home with them as well.

• Anniversary Game:
• When each person comes in, they write their name and anniversary date on a slip of paper. If the person is not married, they may use their birthday. The winner is the person whose date is closest to the wedding date.
• What I love about this game is how easy it is! Nothing to it!
• Timer Game:
• Set a timer when the bride begins to open gifts. When the timer goes off, the person who brought the gift that the bride is opening at that current time is the winner!
• Another no fail game!
• How old are you?
• Assemble a dozen or so photographs of the bride, showing her at different ages. Mix them up so they're not in order. Give pencils and paper to everyone, pass the photos around, or display them someplace where everyone can see, and have guests write down their guess as to how old the bride was in the picture. A prize goes to the person who gets the most ages right.
