Snow…errr Ice Day!

Well, luckily I made a trip to the grocery store on Monday afternoon afterschool to stock up on a few groceries because we are homebound due to all of the ICE that’s covering nearly every surface.

No worries here though! A state of emergency means that we don’t have to makeup these days up {we hope!}. That means three free days with my baby! It’s been terrific getting to spend time with him that I normally wouldn’t have.

I bundled him up this morning and took him outside for the quickest photo shoot ever. I brought his white rocking chair outside, and I began snapping.

For now, there’s a fire in the fireplace, and we are doing absolutely nothing! Other than playing and eating and watching television! It’s the best way to spend this surprise winter break.

Remember those door hangers I made? I think they’re rather fitting {more now than the day of the party}.

While I’m glad we had a little wintry weather, I seriously can’t wait for some spring weather. Things just aren’t really that pretty in the winter like they are in the spring and summer. I prefer green grass over brown and flowers {even though I tend to kill them}. I’m not equipped for cold weather. Warm is more my style!

I hope you all are staying safe and off the roads! When you stay off the roads, you keep my husband safer, too. Enjoy your extra day off!

Sunday Round-up

It’s been a couple of crazy weeks. I’ve been sick. Landry’s been sick. Colby’s been sick. The only one not sick in this household is the dog. Luckily, it was just a cold and nothing worse, but there were several sleepless nights for this mama.

I would go in his room several {ten+} times a night just to make sure he was still breathing. Between a humidifier, lots of love, and elevating his crib mattress, I think we are finally on the mend. Just in time for teething!

He really is feeling much better though!

In between all of this, I turned 26. It was a low key birthday to say the least, but I spent it with my two favorite guys, which made it great! Needless to say, it was much better than last year’s birthday since I thought for sure I was dying {from morning sickness}. Thank goodness it wasn’t a repeat of that!

Can I get a “woot woot” that hunting season is almost over? Seriously….I’m counting down the days.

Abby's baby

Oh, and did I mention that I’m going to be an aunt….again?!?! Yes, I know you already know my sister is having a baby, but not my sister-in-law from The Langham Project is having a baby, too. The picture above is how she shared the news with her husband.

We should find out at her next appointment what Baby Langham will be! Can’t wait! Before long, I’ll be making plans for her shower, too.

Everyone is having babies! But then again, it’s just the stage of life we’re in! So excited for Landry to have all of these new babies as friends {and cousins}!

And you want to know one of the highlights of my week?!? New supplies for my classroom! It’s the little things in life, people! It’s not hard to make this teacher happy! Staplers, a heavy duty hole punch, wireless keyboard, pens, and Sharpies and I’m in heaven! Obviously, it’s a teacher thing =)

iPad

Just a tip….if you’re at the grocery store and love king cake just stroll on over to the ice cream aisle and buy you a half gallon of Mardi Gras King Cake Ice Cream by Blue Bell. You will NOT be disappointed!

Check later in the week to find out plans for the living room! Major changes are about to take place!

In honor of a new week, a few words of wisdom…

Baby, It’s Cold Outside

IMG_6315

That was the theme for my sister’s baby shower. When I was trying to come up with a theme for the shower, all I knew was that I wanted something related to the weather. Thanks to Pinterest, I found “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” All I had to do then was pray that it would actually be cold on the day of the shower. When you’re depending on Alabama weather, it can be freezing one day and in the 70s the next.

The decor was simple, but I think it was a nice touch. On the tables, I used a piece of wood that Colby had cut for me, mason jars with baby’s breath, pine cones, and mini tart pans with candles.

Who knew I could fit four card tables in my living room?

The cake was absolutely amazing! It was gorgeous and delicious!

The menu was all that you could wish for if you wanted to have a sugar high…

Hot chocolate with any possible topping you can imagine

Chocolate chip cheesecake dip

Vanilla wafers

Every variety of donut holes

Brownies

Cheese squares

Chocolate malt balls

Chex mix

In the end, I think it was a terrific shower. The mommy-to-be got lots of things she needed before Baby Isabella arrives in just a few weeks.

Can’t wait until she finally gets here and gets to sport her new things!

Back to Work

Tomorrow it's back to work and this chick is not looking forward to it. Love my co-workers. Love my job. Love my baby and staying at home more though. Do you blame me though?

Look at that sweet face.

I just want to kiss his sweet face, and I must admit that I do about 1,000 times a day.

He turned 5 months old today. Ugh. Time slow down!!!! I don't know what I am going to do when I can't hold him and kiss him any time I want. We have moved up to sleeping through the night on a pretty regular basis, and he even has an 8 p.m. bedtime. One hour of me time before bedtime. When I mean me time though, I really mean making bottles, straightening up, preparing for the following day, and crashing in bed.

I feel like I am missing out on so much by not being with him all the time, but that's the life of a working mom. Maybe I won't feel so bad when he's old enough to go to school, but I am not rushing time at all.

I have been preparing for a baby shower for my sister in the celebration of her second child, Isabella. She's due in February, and we are so excited to meet her.

Kind of a funny story...my sister noticed that Aly, her daughter, had been acting different. When she asked her what the deal was, she said she didn't want to be a big sister because she didn't know how! Any advice for her (mom or daughter)? I don't think Aly totally believed me when I was talking about all the cool things you can do when you're the oldest since I am.

The theme of the shower is " Baby, it's cold outside!" Hopefully, by the grace of God, the whole thing will come together. This is a sneak peek into a project I have been working on and will provide more details about later. I apologize in advance for the poor phone photo.

Hope you all have a great week! Maybe it will go by fast, so the weekend will be here again!

Happy New Year!!!
